University of Brighton Students' Union (BSU) represents 22,000 HE students across five campuses and in four partner colleges. The membership is diverse in age, culture, orientation and interest. BSU provides services ranging from academic representation and support through to social networking, leadership, community building and recreational activities.

A significant part of its role is helping students to develop their employability, leadership enterprise, citizenship and volunteering skills. BSU provides employment to hundreds of students annually. Addressing the challenges of graduate employment is a core strategy of BSU and being a student-led enterprise it is well placed to engage and foster enterprising mind sets.

BSU is led by a sabbatical team of five officers and supported by a professional management team led by the CEO. The Union is an unincorporated charitable trust with a current Board membership of ten consisting of sabbatical, student and external trustees. Its annual turnover exceeds £2 million per annum and it employs over 40 staff.

Brighton Students' Union is currently delivering a £220,000 HEFCE funded programme. The Bright ‘n’ Green project comprises a programme of activities harnessing the collective power of BSU members as green champions for change. The key themes of the programme enable students to become change agents developing green skills for their future. BSU is affiliated to the National Union of Students.
